Emergency Help
for Hacked WordPress Sites
If you think your WordPress site has been hacked, stay calm…we are on hand to help.
WordPress is a very popular platform, something like 34% of websites are built on WordPress. And, so hackers want to take advantage of it’s popularity and hack your website.
Why do WordPress website’s get hacked?
Read our blog post on why someone might hack your website even if you think there’s no reason for them to. Some people don’t think it will happen to them so don’t take precautions.
Can a hacked website be fixed?
Yes! And, it doesn’t take long. In as little as an hour, depending on the size of the site and how badly it’s hacked, The Smart Bear can get you back in, clean it all up and help you stop it from happening again.
What to do if your WordPress site has been hacked
Firstly, don’t panic!
Next, change all your passwords – your hosting/control panel password, your WordPress password, your email password.
Navigate to Users->All users on your WordPress dashboard and make sure there isn’t any usernames on there that you’re not expecting – especially Administrators. If there are, delete them immediately (take a note of their username and email address if you’re not sure and then they can always be added back in later if deleted incorrectly).
Then, simply get in touch with us and we’ll do the rest for you – we’ll need an admin login to both your WordPress website and your control panel and we’ll be more than happy to provide a quote for you before we carry out any work.
Hint: Your hosting provider may offer services for cleaning up your site – it’s worth asking them prior to getting in touch.
How much will it cost to fix a hacked WordPress website?
Prices start at £37.50 which is our minimum fee for this type of issue. But it does depend on how badly it has been hacked, that may be the only cost if it’s easy to fix but we’ll be able to give you a rough estimate once we’ve had a look.
What does the cost include?
We always do a full scan for any hidden virus or malicious scripts – plus, we make sure we install anti-hacking precautions to ensure it’s unlikely to get hacked again.
The initial £37.50 includes us having a look and see if we can clean it there and then. If not, we’ll get in touch and let you know if it might take a bit longer, and we’ll give you a rough estimate.
How long will it take to clean a website of malware?
We do try to prioritise hacked sites and most are clean within 24-48 hours. However, it does depend on our workload so do get in touch to find out if we can schedule you in using the form below (please note we are only open during office hours, and check we’re not on vacation on our Google My Business page). If we can’t fit you in, we may be able to refer you to another service provider.
Most badly hacked sites take around 1-2 hours (£75-£150) to fully clean and secure again, but we have had some taking much less, and some taking more – we can usually give you an idea once we have access to the website.
Feel free to pay in advance here: PAYGO mini-retainers, or we can invoice you once the work is complete. Once you get in touch, we’ll send over our T&Cs to sign prior to starting any work.
