From a single-page tuition site to a full alternative provision and SEND consultancy hub
The Client
Clear Steps Plus Education Ltd (CSPE), based in Urmston, Trafford, started out offering private tuition – entrance exam prep, GCSEs, and general Maths and English. Since then, the business has grown into something bigger: an Ofsted-registered alternative provision for SEND children aged 11–18, alongside SEND and neurodiversity consultancy for schools, on top of the private tuition offer they built their name on.
The old site hadn’t kept pace with that growth.
The Challenge
The previous website was built around a single service – private tuition – with a fixed left-hand side menu and one long scrolling homepage. It worked well enough for that original offer, but it couldn’t stretch to cover three distinct services: alternative provision, private tuition, and SEND consultancy for schools, each with a different audience and a different set of questions to answer.
The client asked for three things:
- Reflect the change in what the business actually does – from a tuition provider to a multi-service SEND education business
- Make it easier to manage – so updates like term dates and policy documents don’t need a developer
- Make it more accessible for parents – many of whom are navigating SEND support systems for the first time, often at a difficult moment
And specifically: lose the side menu.
What We Did
We rebuilt the site on WordPress with Elementor, giving the CSPE team a page builder they can use to update content themselves – no code, no waiting on developers for small changes like term dates or a new policy document.
The side menu was replaced with a top navigation bar, structured around the three services:
- About Us – with dedicated Meet the Team and Reviews & Testimonials pages
- Alternative Provision – with its own Core Values, Approach, and Journey to Success pages
- Private Tuition – including specific pages for 11+ preparation and payment options
- SEND Consultancy – with dedicated pages for MFL and Science consultancy for schools
Alongside these, we built out a practical Information section (term dates, safeguarding, policies) and a dedicated page for their SEND parent/carer coffee mornings – giving the site a genuine community function, not just a service listing.
For accessibility, we kept language plain throughout and made contact routes obvious and specific – separate numbers for general enquiries, attendance, private tuition, and EOTAS/AP – rather than funnelling every parent through one generic contact form. Ofsted registration and other accreditations are visible on every page via the footer, giving parents an easy trust signal at a glance.
The Result
The new site now does what the old one couldn’t: it tells parents (and schools, for the consultancy side) exactly which service applies to them, gives them a clear next step, and lets the CSPE team keep it current without outside help.
