We know it’s really tough for a lot of businesses right now, we’re trying to help as many people as we can. Some businesses are still not entirely sure what they should be doing. Honestly, they’re not on their own.
Some are shutting down websites and stopping their marketing efforts. Whilst others are going full steam ahead. It can feel difficult to know what to do for the best!Â
We believe that stopping all your marketing efforts isn’t a good plan. We actually think this is the perfect time to have a deep dive into what you’re doing. In this blog, we explain why we believe now is the right time to roll up your sleeves and get to work on your digital presence.
Business Websites
Some people are sadly assuming that their website is not bringing them any tangible benefit right now, so they decide not to keep it updated, or worse, switch it off. Yes, this saves them some money in hosting costs, but we feel this is a bad thing – not just because it’s what we do!Â
Now more than ever, people are turning to websites to find out information and to make informed choices. You never know who may be looking for your product or service. We believe you should be using this time to look at how your website is working for you.Â
Does it need a bit of a refresh?Â
Do you need some nice new images or some striking new content?Â
Are your services up to date?Â
There is so much you can be doing, which whilst it may seem a bit futile now, it could put you ahead of your competitors when we move out of lockdown.Â
We’ve worked with a number of long term clients who have had to pivot their business. Their website is the cornerstone to that new way of working. It could be the same for you. So have a look and honestly think about what is working well for you and what isn’t. You may be surprised about what comes to mind.
If you need extra advice about your site, why not get in touch? We can go through what options are available to you so that you can make sure you’re moving in the right direction.
Digtial Marketing Content
So many people are scared of ‘selling’ right now. But if you’re selling and it’s obvious, you’re not doing yourself any favours. Now, more than ever is not the time to be pushy!
Like with a website, it’s really important to keep yourself visible. This crisis isn’t going to last forever, so make sure you’re at the front of people’s minds. You can do that in whatever way you feel suits your business.
Yes, you need to be mindful about what you’re putting out there, but you also need to remember that people are still buying products and services. It could be that you’re just what they’re looking for!Now is the time to start that newsletter (yes, we’re doing it too!) or to look at refreshing your branding.Â
Maybe it would be a good time to do a bit of a spring clean on your social media?
If you’re having to home school your kids, then now is a good time to look at how you are planning your content. What can you realistically fit in the time that you have? What sort of content do you like creating?Â
We’d encourage you to be quite analytical. Look at what is working for you and what isn’t. All the social platforms have stats that show you what is working and what isn’t. If it no longer aligns with your business, then don’t do it!
If you want some help, then why not have a look at our digital marketing power hour? In one hour we can really help you get clear on what you need to do with your marketing right now.

Search Engine Optimisation
You knew we were going to mention this, didn’t you?Â
One of the big things that you can do right now is to look at how your site is performing, in terms of Google ranking, Taking some time to go through this now, will stand you in good stead much later on, as well all know SEO is not a quick fix.Â
Start with looking at how people are getting to your site, are these the search terms you wanted or expected to rank for? Are there things popping up in your analytics which you weren’t expecting?Â
Do any of these terms appear in your headings or page titles? What about the meta descriptions? Do these have the keywords in that you’re looking to rank for?
We know that SEO can sometimes fill you with dread, but you don’t need to be scared. Remember that blog you talked about writing? That can help. Remember, blogs are indexed by Google, so you get lots of options for extra keywords in there too!Â
We have an online SEO workshop, which is part of our regular training offering, so please let us know if you’d like to be in the next session.
Online Workshops and Training
If all of the above gives you a sense of dread, then why not look at some training? There are lots of options out there. We love learning new skills and brushing up on our existing ones. It’s why we launched our courses in the first place!
When we work with clients, we try and educate them as much as we can. We’ve found that if you understand the basics, then you’re generally much more confident in managing your website, or how you present yourself online.Â
Of course, we’d love you to come to one of our sessions – but you don’t always have to learn something that is related to business! What about learning a new language or skill? There are lots of places that are offering free courses in all manner of subject areas.Â
Learning something which is different can actually give you the space you need to come back refreshed and then tackle your website (see what we did there?)
We hope this blog has given you some ideas of what you can be looking at within your business. We’re all living in unprecedented times and many businesses are switching up how they work. We’re in the same position too, but we’re looking forward to seeing how we all make the best of this.
After all, it’s what we business owners do!
